Okay, Okay I'm a Bad Deviant!

Sun Jun 1, 2008, 8:47 PM
  • Mood: Shame
So I logged onto my account again today after almost a year of neglect to find that I have 392 messages...and they're not even Viagra ads...most of them are actual messages and wonderful art by awesome people that I have been totally ignoring. If my deviant art account were an animal it would be almost completely feral with spindly legs, ribs poking out, and a bad case of mange. Well I can at least claim some small measure of remorse but I won't promise not to do it again. I therefore promise to pay attention to my deviant art account for about a week and then ignore it again for probably about 3-6 months. There. I think I can handle that.

Dude, you're really good at sculpture... but might I suggest you do some original characters? I think you are probably better than you even realize and just haven't been brave enough to do your own characters. That's not an insult, I do it all the time, but I try to purposely push myself into new endevours I thought I'd never be able to do.

Actually I have done original characters but I haven't had time to upload everything I've done yet. It's not so much that I have avoided doing original characters out of fear but that I enjoy sculpting Jhonen Vasquez's characters. It's a tribute. There are some characters of his that I have sculpted simply to see if I could sculpt blood in the process of spraying from someone's head. Rendering a blood spray or a character in the midst of action into 3 D is more difficult, I think, than it is to draw the same scene. In time, though, I'm sure that I will add more entirely original pieces to my collection. Thanks for the feedback.
